Summer at Lonsdale Quay Market
Summer is a busy time at Lonsdale Quay Market.
FATHER’S DAY: Fathers enjoyed a barbecue Sunday, June 17, when Sharky’s Chophouse fired up an outdoor grill on the Waterfront Plaza from 11 am–6 pm. Live music was featured on the SummerFest stage by winner of The Voice France, Manu Reymond and Abby Pierrot. Reymond got the crowd pumped up with his mix of French and English songs. Abby Pierrot, a young up and coming local artist, rounded out the day with some sweet covers.
SUMMERFEST: The Market has also officially kicked off SummerFest 2018. Each week features exciting events Wednesday through Sunday like Turnt Up Thursday fitness classes and Salsa Dancing Friday. Already featured on the SummerFest stage was the Throwback with Tina Turner and Elvis, who entertained Saturday, July 14 from 1-6 p.m.
OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT: Back by popular demand, the Market will be celebrating the end of summer with the annual Outdoor Movie event on Saturday, Sept. 1 on the Waterfront Plaza. To make things extra-special this year, the Quay is hosting a double feature screening sponsored by Daily Hive Vancouver: Disney/Pixar’s ‘Finding Dory’ beginning at 8 pm and followed by the adventure comedy classic ‘The Goonies’ at 10 pm.
Spectators are encouraged to come early to secure their spots and to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. The Market will have a special late opening until 9 p.m. so moviegoers can get snacks, a late dinner and drinks before the double feature begins.
The Outdoor Movie Night event is by donation and this year, the Market will be raising donations for Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. The foundation raises money for health-care facilities and assists with programs across the North Shore. Learn more about events and activities on the Lonsdale Quay Market website and Facebook page.
