Fashion friendly at Semiahmoo

Semiahmoo Shopping Centre celebrated Earth Day earlier this year with a display of fashions made from recycled materials from Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Fashion Design Program.

Kwantlen’s second year students were asked to study a recognized fashion designer and replicate their designs using only found of recyclable objects and materials, and add their personalized touch. Designers such as Betsey Johnson, Madaline Vionnet and Giovanni Versace were showcased.

The event gave away free reusable shopping bags; and hosted a shredding event which helped save about 100 mature trees, while raising over $4,500 and 850 pounds of food for the local food bank.
